Session 1 : Winter Preparations in Turkish Kitchen!
We will be preparing three winter food: Tomato Sauce (Turkish style), Mixed Pickles, Strawberry Jam.
Tomato Sauce (Turkish style): Tomato sauce is one of the most important winter food for Turkish families. The tradition of preparing the tomato sauce is still very common among Turkish women. It is simple and easy to make. Turkish style tomato sauce is widely used in soups and main course in Turkish kitchen.
Mixed Pickles: Mixed pickles are eaten much like other pickles: in small amounts to add flavor and to accent a meal. One of the most common types of eating mixed pickles in Turkish culture is with cooked bulgur (cracked wheat).
Strawberry Jam: As a great element of breakfast culture, strawberry jam is one of the most popular jams in Turkish kitchen. Strawberry jam is mostly spread on a freshly baked Turkish bread!
Important Notes: Cooked Bulgur (cracked wheat), mixed pickles and home-made plain yoghurt will be served after the class.
This is a hands-on cooking class. Ingredients and cooking materials will be provided at the event place. Each participant will be able to take part in the preparing/cooking process and take samples home.
