Cooking Class – Saturday, November 1, 2014 – Detroit
TASM Women’s branch is organizing another Turkish Cooking Class on November 1st. You are cordially invited to register for the upcoming 4th session to enjoy great food along with a friendly conversation. Please find details below.
Session 4: Manti and Gozleme
This session is all about cooking with dough.
Manti is similar to meat-filled dumplings.This classic dish is loved by adults and kids alike. So no wonder versions of ‘mantı’ are found throughout central Asia. And then there are of course Italian stuffed pastas like ravioli. The one we will prepare is manti from the Anatolian city of Kayseri. It’s known for the tiny size of the dumplings and a tangy tomato/pepper sauce drizzled over the garlic yogurt.
Gozleme is a savoury traditional Turkish pastry dish, made of hand-rolled dough with various fillings. It is cooked on a pan or a griddle.Fillings for gozleme are numerous and include a variety of meats, vegetables, cheeses and potatoes. We will be preparing Gozleme with the most common filling in Turkey: spinach and feta cheese.
